This was a one-night stopover at Coast Hillcrest Hotel in Revelstoke, between Jasper and Whistler. My intention was to visit the Glacier National Park and the Rogers Pass Centre, but it was closed (it’s normally open year-round). Luckily, I had visited the Revelstoke Railway Museum the previous afternoon.
The hotel is situated outside Revelstoke, in a countryside area that looked ripe for holiday homes, etc. (there is an established holiday-home market in the region). There was a comfortable atmosphere about the whole place, and I saw some people carrying ice-hockey sticks.
Bedroom
A very decent offering, including a whirlpool and a small balcony. The bed had good sheets and was very comfortable.
Bathroom
Also a comfortable bathroom, with an excellent walk-in shower.
I spent some time in the basement sauna, steam-room, and Jacuzzi. The steam-room needed to be switched on at least 30 minutes before use (so it was useless). The sauna was set at a little above 60°C, i.e. also useless. But the small Jacuzzi was hot and very relaxing.
The changing and shower facilities in the basement were a bit limited. So it was back to the room for a good shower.
Balcony
And a small but very pleasant balcony overlooking the countryside behind the hotel.
Breakfast
This time I tried the breakfast. I went for the salmon omelette, which turned out to be an omelette with a couple of slices of heavily smoked salmon draped over the top. It came with coffee, a side of pre-buttered toast, and a side of berry-yogurt. I thought this was a bit expensive for C$45 (including tip).
