Hotel – Sandman Signature, Kamloops

The Sandman Signature Kamloops Hotel, opened in 2014, is a modern, 202-room hotel on the northern edge of downtown. It faces Riverside Park and the Thompson River, so near both waterfront walks and the downtown.

Its facilities include an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, gym, Moxies restaurant and Shark Club sports bar, and the suites have kitchen facilities.

My day had not been very successful, because the two visits I planned were closed. I arrived early, and my room was said to be ready at 14:00. Come 14:20 it was not ready, again not ready at 14:30, and I was left sitting until I asked again at 15:00. The welcome was non-existent.

However, that facilities turned out to be perfect for an over-night.

Livingroom

The living room was comfortable, hand a divan bed, and a useful kitchen, including a dishwasher. I was told it is often also ised by crews that change on the local railway.

A railway that was just across the road, but strangely it did not affect my sleep.

Bedroom

The bedroom was perfectly comfortable, with an excellent mattress and sheets.

Bathroom

I would have preferred a walk-in shower. I detests baths and plastic bath curtains. A handrail for the bath would have been very useful.

The towels were good, but a larger bath towel would have been nice.

Shark Club sports bar

This time I decided to have dinner in the hotel’s Moxies restaurant.

Great atmosphere, great service and good food. With a beer, and a good tip, C$65.

Breakfast

Breakfast was in the same Moxies restaurant, and was an orange juice, a fruit bowl, and some cereals and milk. It still cost C$25.
