Before Christmas 2022, it was time to move south. Stopping first in Champagne, we travelled through Chambord, Cognac, Elciego, Salamanca, and Christmas’ed in Seville, before moving even further into southern Andalucia…, so a trip of nearly 2,500 km.
Our first stopover was in the new Loisium Wine & Spa Hôtel Champagne in Mutigny. A comfortable hotel, not perfect, but worth a second visit.
Next came a stopover in the Relais de Chambord sitting on the grounds of the château of the same name. A comfortable choice, in the right place at the right time.
Then we drove to Cognac and stayed for 2 nights in the Hôtel Chais Monnet & Spa. A very comfortable hotel, certainly worth a visit again next time we are passing by.
Moving into Spain, we then stayed in the Hotel Marqués de Riscal in Elciego. A very comfortable hotel, where we will certain stay again when driving through the region.
We moved on to Salamanca, where we stayed in the Hospes Palacio de San Esteban. We were less than convinced, and would certainly look for an alternative should we stay again in the city.
Finally, we spent Christmas 2022 in Seville, staying at the Hospes Las Casas del Rey de Baeza. Again we were not impressed, and would not stay there again.
